now, a vice president joe biden speakes said a campaign rally in the fort myers, florida. this is about 40 minutes. >> all right. thank you very much. thank you so very much. it is great to be back in fort myers. i always joke. a man should always have two things. a brother with a place in florida, and a brother in law with a pickup truck. for the long this time my brother had a place here in fort myers. i got to come down here all of the time. and then he sold it. i have not spoken to him since. i am only kidding. since i have been here a number of times over the last 20 years -- do you mind if i take my coat off? ok. thank you very much. when i got here and i was introduced to jamie, i thought she was my sister a lot. she looks like my sister-in-law kelly more than you can imagine. thank you for the introduction. thank you for the hard work you have under way. all of the for being here on a saturday morning. i want to get right to it. the fact of the matter is, you know as well as i do that this country is facing the starkest choice for president that we have faced at le

47% comment to the greatest effect. >> big ups to joe biden for rocking the polo shirt. i can't think of the last time someone on a ticket has made such a bold choice. look at the contrast here between joe biden who's setting the issues on the table and paul ryan who frankly doesn't look very gracious when you're asked about missteps on the ticket, if you want to do anything, and i think this is communications and politics 101, if you want to do anything talk about your own missteps. you're the number 2 guy. you're not there to remind people about how your boss made a big error that wasn't just style but was also substance. >> paul ryan was also asked why the romney/ryan team is trailing in the polls. let's listen to his response to that. >> it kind of goes without saying that there is definitely media bias. i think most people in main stream media are left of center and therefore they want a left of center president versus the conservative president like mitt romney. >> the old blame the media. you know you're in trouble when you blame the media for where your campaign

[ laughter ] >> cenk: i think the president has run a brilliant campaign up until this moment. and i think they are going to look and see what we saw. the president doesn't respond to the $716 billion taken from medicare, and he doesn't respond. they have got to change course in the next set of debates. >> eliot: two things those sort of tensions came through at every level, and here is why progressives should be worried. the performance tonight from president obama isn't the guy we wanted to elect. we elected somebody who was wrong had vision and capacity to articulate and energize people. he has got to come back as a different person next time. >> cenk: david shuster hah a point of the spin rooms. >> it is a bit interesting and somewhat strange, the romney campaign had their top surrogates in the spin rooms, there was marco rubio, and as soon as the debate was over they started spinning. not a single person from the ob

we've seen the example of joe biden on the trail, joe biden being very smooth, trying to relate and be charming, charm offensive with the female crowd, hang out with the biker ladies. we saw that picture. from a political perspective is he the obama camp's secret weapon or their biggest headache? >> probably a little both. definitely a headache in terms of saying things like the middle class has been buried over the last four years, but in terms of their charm offensive he's somebody who they believe can relate well to working class folks, white working class folks pap tour of delis and diners and places, lunch counters, where working folks are going to eat in the middle of the day. in particular, though, there's a certain set of women i like to call them the medicare eligible set, 65 and over and certainly a little younger than that who obama has had a lot of trouble with. he's got a huge lead among women overall but as women are older, they are less likely to be in his camp. mitt romney actually leading in that 65 and over column by 48% to 43% in the gallup poll in august. joe biden,
